Days of the Dead Film Festival

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DOTD FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERSHIPS FOR 2024 SUMMER EVENT

The film festival has partnered with two additional companies to enhance the screenplay

competition and add real world value to the winners and finalists.

(INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA) - Days of the Dead Film Festival (July 5 - 7, 2024) is thrilled to announce the addition of two new partnerships geared toward screenwriters. These partnerships will enhance the overall festival experience for screenwriters by offering real world prizes. The companies join DOTDFF partners Bloody Disgusting’s episodic series “Bloody Bites” and Troma Entertainment bringing another exciting dynamic to the film festival.

We are thrilled to partner with Los Angeles based Sound of Scripts , a bespoke production service that transforms screenplays, stage plays, podcasts, and books into audio plays, founded by J.B. Storey and T.J. Ramini.  In addition to a lifetime friendship, J.B. and T.J. have always shared a love of storytelling.

J.B is an award-winning writer and has worked for some of the largest tech companies and advertising agencies in the world for the past 20 years. T.J is a successful actor and writer, featuring in TV, film and Gaming voice work.  “It was refreshing to speak with them and hear their passion for this particular art form”, stated festival co-Director & Programmer, George Lane.

Both feel strongly about screenwriters being able to showcase their work beyond official selections and awards.  “Audio productions not only help storytellers connect with industry professionals (producers, agents, managers, production companies, network executives, festival organizers, etc.) but it also makes their lives easier by having another tool to showcase their work”, stated co-founder- T.J. Ramini.  In addition to screenplays, the company also turns T.V. episodics, books and narrative podcast stories into audio productions.

Sound of Scripts will award an audio production package to the winner of the short and feature screenplay competition. This package will bring your script to life and be a valuable asset.  The “First Ten Pages” ($600 value) package consists of up to five voice talent performers, sound production/engineering and up to 12 pages of the screenplay.

In this ultra-competitive era of TV and Film content, writing a 'great script' is, of course, absolutely essential.  Having a resource to truly make the creator’s project stand out is just as valuable, expressed co-founder J.B. Storey.  For more information and services provided, please visit their website at Sound of Scripts.  You can also listen to completed projects in their entirety on their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@soundofscripts271.

With much enthusiasm, we announce the partnership with Los Angeles based script analysis company, Coverage Ink.  Founded by Jim Cirile, a multi-produced, WGA member writer/artist/musician and then-columnist for Creative Screenwriting magazine.  He built a team of readers who worked for production and management companies.  Coverage Ink offers many services like: Screenplay Coverage Standard Analysis, Pro Analysis, Mark-Up & Editing, Consultations & Mentoring, Pro Writing, and more.

For 22 years Coverage Ink has been an industry leader assisting writers to improve their craft, giving them the best opportunity for success by having their work in front of experienced and qualified readers, who have gone through a stringent selection process. Readers evaluate and decide if the script (as well as the writer) receives a RECOMMEND, CONSIDER, or PASS rating.  “The goal is to help make your screenplay or television pilot  attractive to executives,” said Coverage Ink founder, Jim Cirile.

Tonya Klein, a partner in Coverage Ink, has wide-ranging experience in both film and theater. She spent years in NYC as a writer/director where her plays have been seen Off-Broadway. Tanya spent almost a decade as Artistic Director of a theater company where she directed and/or produced close to a hundred productions and conducted writing and directing labs.

“Our readers are skilled in different areas. Some are film-specific; others love TV. A few are terrific with editing and mark-up. Some are more indie and alternative structure-tolerant, while others are more by the book”, said Tonya Klein.  Coverage Ink always routes your screenplay or pilot to a reader who likes and is skilled in that genre.

Coverage Ink will award Screenplay Coverage Analysis and a phone consultation for both feature and short screenplay winners at Days of the Dead Film Festival in Indianapolis (July 5 - 7, 2024).  Finalists will receive half hour phone consultations.  “This resource provides an integral aspect to our festival which further assists filmmakers to improve their craft to find success in this competitive industry”, stated festival co-Director & Programmer, Audery Lane.

The Winners of the feature and short screenplay competition will receive the  CI Standard Analysis ($159 value.) A thorough, empowering report detailing everything that's working in your screenplay - and what isn't. Includes logline, synopsis, 6-10 pages of notes, and a 37-point grid and recommendations. Is your script ready to rock? It better be. The Top 3 Finalists in the feature and short screenwriter competition will receive the CI Half-Hour Consultation ($45 value) - a phone, Zoom, or Skype session with one of the CoverageInk.com partners. They'll assess where you are in your screenwriting career, where you want to be, and how to best get there. A hugely powerful career development tool. For more information on the company and  services offered visit their website https://coverageink.com

Also check out their yearly event “Get Repped Now” March 11 - May 31, 2024.  In short, this event consists of a panel of top literary representatives on board, all looking for the next great screenwriting voice. NIGHTMARES FILM FESTIVAL REVEALS KILLER 2019 PROGRAM
Four-Day “Better Horror” Lineup Brimming with Premieres, Coveted Films from Around the World

Columbus, OH - If this is a Nightmare, horror fans won't want to wake up.

Closely-watched Nightmares Film Festival has outdone even its most legendary stuffed-to-bursting programs with 2019’s lineup, which will pack 190 of the world’s best features and shorts from around the world into this year’s four-day event, Oct. 24 to 27.

“We are so honored the world’s best genre creators trust us to present their work,” said co-founder and programmer Jason Tostevin. “This year, we have assembled more ‘better horror’ for our Nightmares audience than ever before.”

Leading the lineup are 24 features from both beloved horror filmmakers and important new voices in genre film. Included are Hammer Films’s The Lodge, from the makers of Goodnight Mommy; Daniel Isn’t Real, from the producers of Mandy and The Greasy Strangler; VFW, from the director of Almost Human; Eat Brains Love, adapted from the popular novel; and closing night film Z, from the creators of It Stains the Sand Red and Still/Born

The fest will also present a screening of Jörg Buttgereit‘s infamously banned necrophilic exploitation film Nekromantik … brand new horror comedy anthology Scare Package She Never Died, the sequel to the 2015 Henry Rollins action-horror film He Never Died … the Carpenter Brut-scored Blood Machines ... the world premiere of FX artist Marcus Koch (We Are Still Here)'s doc on the history of extreme cinema, Beyond Horror ... and the world premiere of Tommy Faircloth (Dollface)’s newest film, A Nun’s Curse

One of Nightmares’s best known traditions, the Late Night Mind Fuck -- called “one of the most dangerous and challenging blocks of programming at any festival” (The Film Coterie), returns this year with two world premieres. First is The Obsessed from Italian extreme director Domiziano Christopharo (previous NFF winner Torment), a body horror freak-out based on the manic descent of Bjork’s stalker. And at 2 a.m. is the dark, harrowing and sexually explicit 29 Needles.

The festival’s reputation for presenting the best curated shorts blocks on the planet continues with a lineup of 150+ horror, thriller, midnight and horror comedy short films, including dozens of world premieres. Its Recurring Nightmares blocks are also back, highlighting NFF audience favorites returning with new work, and its Ohio shorts blocks will offer up some of the best locally made films.

Nightmares has also named the 13 finalists in its short and feature screenplay contests. These screenwriters will be given the chance to connect with selected filmmakers to explore production of their scripts through the NFF FinaLIST matching service.

All selected competition films and screenplays vie for a coveted Night Mare statuette, representing the dark horses of genre. The Night Mare is sculpted and painted by renowned toy and figure creator Tony Simione (Marvel, Star Wars, Godzilla, Alien).

A complete list of features, shorts and screenplay finalists follows below.

Want to make the pilgrimage to Nightmares this year? Some passes are still available, though they always sell out.

Nightmares Film Festival has been called one of the world’s best horror film festivals by every major genre outlet. It has maintained its position as the world’s top-rated genre festival on the submission platform FilmFreeway for 35 consecutive months.
